BRAND NEW 2.0kw CHROME STARTER FITMENT FOR ALL 2005-UP BIG DOG MOTORCYCLES MODELS WITH BAKER DSSC RIGHT SIDE DRIVE TRANSMISSION.


NEWLY DESIGNED, COMPLETELY RE-ENGINEERED PRECISION POLISHED BILLET HOUSING WITH CHROME MOTOR AND SOLENOID. 

 WE'VE BEEN REBUILDING BIG DOG STARTERS FOR OVER 10 YEARS WITH VERY FEW WARRANTY ISSUES. THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT FROM BIG DOG OWNERS IS OIL GETTING INTO THE STARTER FROM THE PRIMARY, MOST OF WHICH IS CAUSED BY THE POOR PRIMARY DESIGN ITSELF THAT CAN'T BE CHANGED. 
 MORE PROBLEMS COME FROM OVER FILLED PRIMARIES, OR BLOCKED / NON-EXISTENT PRIMARY VENTS. THE OTHER MAJOR CAUSE FOR OIL LEAKAGE IS THE POOR QUALITY OF THE CASTING ON THE STARTER HOUSING.

 SO, A COUPLE YEARS AGO WE STARTED DESIGN / ENGINEERING ON A NEW HOUSING THAT IS A LITTLE LARGER, MUCH STRONGER, AND MORE PRECISE THAN THE ORIGINAL CASTINGS FROM OVERSEAS. ALTHOUGH THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY TO KEEP A FAULTY PRIMARY DESIGN FROM FORCING OIL INTO THE STARTER COMPLETELY, WE HAVE MADE ALL POSSIBLE CHANGES TO THE STARTER HOUSING TO MINIMIZE THIS ISSUE.

 I KNOW WE'LL BE CRITICIZED AND QUESTIONED FOR THE LACK OF THE "OIL GROOVE" CUT IN THESE. AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED THAT WAS A POST PRODUCTION BAND AID BY BIG DOG THAT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM OF OIL ENTERING THE STARTER. IT SERVES NO PURPOSE OTHER THAN CREATING ANOTHER AVENUE FOR OIL TO ENTER THE STARTER.  ONCE OIL ENTERS THE STARTER IT DOESN'T COME OUT, AND DAMAGE IS ALREADY DONE BECAUSE IT SHOULDN'T BE IN THE STARTER IN THE FIRST PLACE.  IF YOU WANT ONE WITH THE OLD STYLE HOUSING, JUST LET US KNOW, WE'LL BUILD YOU ONE WITH ANY VARIATION OF THE GROOVE BIG DOG EVER HAD.
